Welcome Fellow Gardeners,

Thank you for visiting our website. We hope you will find it interesting and informative and encourage you to apply for a plot if you are in the vicinity. Rowdens is currently 100% occupied but you can still put your name down on the waiting list. The allotments officer is only renting out half plots at a time presently because of the high demand.

Rowdens Reservoir Allotments are located at Stoke Village in the City of Plymouth in South West England. They are on what was formerly a market garden and get their name from a local reservoir that they originally adjoined. The reservoir made way for commercial premises some decades ago and is now home to the Council’s City Business Park.

The now well established association has worked well with the Local Authority: Plymouth City Council, and many improvements have been made to the site through our collective approach. Tenants new and old enjoy the mainly natural surroundings and relaxed atmosphere at the site where advice is freely available from the longer standing tenants if required. Wildlife is abundant and encouraged by all the tenants who understand the value of the natural world in maintaining a healthy balance without resorting to chemical sprays etc. See more on our allotment wildlife page, photo pages, or follow the hedgehog at the top of the page. We are well aware of the nuisance caused by smoke and as a result bonfires are kept to a minimum as requested by the Allotments Officer and neighbours.

We also actively support the Woodside Animal Sanctuary at Elfordleigh and are always on the look out for new volunteers for this project. Please go to the Woodside page on this website for more information or contact the secretary.

Once you have had a good look at the various pages on the website we shall be grateful if you will leave any comments or ideas for improvements on our message board.

Thank you for visiting our website.
